These trees can be found on Beech Hill, behind the Athletic Center.
Catalpa bignonioides is a large tree with beautiful clusters of white flowers in the spring and large seed pods in the fall.
Fagus Grandifolia or Beech is known by lovers for its smooth bark where hearts are engraved.This tree is 245 years old, amazing. It is 120 feet tall and its circumference is 157 inches
Acer saccharinum or Silver Maple has an opposite branching pattern, its leaves are whitish-silver underneath.
Acer rubrum or Red Maple has oppostie brancing pattern. Its leaves are also opposite & they have red stems. Known for its brillant fall colors
Quercus Palustris . Pin oak is named for the many short “pins” that grow from the trunk; these were once used by carpenters as pins instead of nails. The tree is characteristic of damp, swampy areas but is also planted as a street tree.
