The Howard County Forestry Board in partnership with the Talbot Springs Elementary School help to create an outdoor classroom with participation of the Chesapeake Bay School Reforestation Project.

In April, 2002 the Forestry Board was invited to plant trees with the students of the school. Joining with Steve Parker, the Forestry Board's Chairperson, the students are learning the rules for the day.

Note that the Chesapeake Bay Trust is an important funder of these projects. It is only with their assistance that school projects like this can go forward.

Dave Plummer, the Forester assigned to Howard County, gives the students specialized instructions, and demonstrates his fine technique.

Having their instructions, groups of students work together to plant the trees.

Some students give their individual attention to the exercise. Each sapling was planted with extra care.

Even the chairman of the Howard County Forestry Board was present to demonstrate the right way to plant the saplings.

At the day's end, the saplings were in the ground, and a fine project was completed.
