The Howard County Forestry Board gets involved with the school system in our county.  In April, 2001 the Forestry Board was invited to plant trees with the students of Waverly Elementary school. Here the students are learning the rules for the day.

Dave Plummer, the Forester assigned to Howard County, gives the students specialized instructions, and demonstrates his fine technique.

Having their instructions, groups of students work together to plant the trees.

Some students give their individual attention to the exercise. Each sapling was planted with extra care.

Despite the threat of rain, students were enthusiastic about the reforestation project.

Even the chairman of the Howard County Forestry Board was present to demonstrate the right way to plant the saplings.

At the day's end, the saplings were in the ground, and a fine project was completed.
