The Howard County Forestry Board joined with Howard County Tourism and the Claudia Mayer Cancer Research and Image Center to make the Howard County Cherry Tree Project a reality. On April 29th our efforts were recognized during the official dedication of the Centennial Park Founders Grove.

The commemorative sign, imbedded in rock at the Grove reads:

Howard County Cherry Tree Project
"Blossoms of Hope",
Centennial Park Founders Grove

To commemorate the beauty and hope that will grow
throughout Howard County thanks to the
generous contribution of the original founders
and all those who follow in their footsteps
to "grow" this project countywide.

Dedicated April 29, 2005

In cooperation with
Howard County Tourism, Inc., Howard County Government,
The Claudia Mayer Cancer Research and Image Center
and The Howard County Forest Conservation Board

The ultimate goal - 1000 Kwanzan cherry trees across Howard County, blooming simultaneously each April - to beautify and beckon people to visit and experience the many attractions found throughout the county. The beauty, however, of the "Blossom of Hope" campaign goes far beyond the trees' annual display of color. This project is also about hope - the hope of individuals and families within the community who are coping with cancer.
