Wayne Merkle and Terry Galloway demonstrate their planting technique

"Volunteers planted 230 new trees Oct. 29 along the newest road extension of Marshalee Drive in Elkridge. More than 70 people helped dig the holes, plant the trees, spread mulch and pick up trash in the half-mile stretch of road that runs through the 10th and fourth tees on the Timbers of Troy golf course.

"Terry Galloway, of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources organized the project. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources' Gift of Trees program donated many of the trees.
